Celine Dion has canceled her upcoming Asian tour and the remaining scheduled shows in her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace in order to care for her husband, who has cancer. The 72-year-old René Angélil, who was also Dion’s manager until he resigned from that role in June, had surgery in December to remove a cancerous tumor, according to ABC News. The new announcement likely suggests a return of the disease. Angélil has battled cancer before, having been diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999.
Celine Dion is perhaps the richest performer in all of the Las Vegas glittery pantheon. Her residency at Caesars Palace, where she has been “part of the family” for a decade, is worth around $100 million a year.
