A bald-headed Antonio Banderas stars in the upcoming sci-fi film Automata. Set in the future, Automata is about a gang of robots that gain consciousness and become sentient. (Should that be “who” gain consciousness then? Instead of “that”, but anyway.) One of the robots is played by Javier Bardem! “Your time is coming to an end, ours is now beginning,” is the new existential robot mantra. To get their new time off to a good start, the robots kidnap a human (Antonio Banderas).
Jacob Kastrenakes at TheVerge says: “With just its first trailer, Automata easily takes a place beside Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar on the list of the best-looking sci-fi films coming this year.” Automata will be released on October 10. Oh yeah, and Banderas’s ex-wife Melanie Griffith also stars in the sci-fi thriller which should make for an interesting red carpet premiere.
