New York City’s American Natural History Museum will be opening its doors on Friday, August 21st for a first-of-its-kind event. No, you cannot pet the giant whale that hangs from the ceiling–and the diorama bison haven’t been re-fluffed. The museum is having an all-night party, and this time it’s an adults-only affair.
The AMNH has been hosting all-nighters aimed at young museum-goers for years, but to get into August’s event you must be twenty-one or over. In addition to allowing attendees to roam the largely empty museum halls at night, the event will feature a three-course dinner, a jazz ensemble, champagne, “a live animal demonstration,” and the soothing tones of Neil DeGrasse Tyson (narrating a special midnight showing of the Dark Universe Space Show). And all that for the bargain-basement price of $375 per person (only $325 for members).
