Leeteuk, born Park Jeong-su, is the lead singer of the wildly popular Korean pop boy band Super Junior. Leeteuk is back on stage after a two-year hiatus due to his enlisting for his mandatory military service in 2012. It wasn’t all basic training and firearms, though. While in the military, Leeteuk co-starred in a musical called The Promise, which is about a group of soldiers who keep a promise made during the Korean 6.25 war. The show ran for 10 days at the National Theatre of Korea. (The musical was produced by the Ministry of National Defense.)
It’s been an extremely difficult year for the young singer. In January 2014, while finishing his military service, Leeteuk learned that his father had killed his grandparents before taking his own life. After their funerals, Leeteuk returned to complete his military service. He was released from the military today. His fans are giving him a warm welcome via social media (see #WelcomeBackParkJeonSoo), and are excited to see him back in the studio.
