During an interview from Ukraine, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo made an unfortunate language choice with his redundancy about “shooting down the notion” of Ukrainian forces “shooting down” the Malaysian airliner whose downing killed 295 people. Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart aired the clip as his Daily Moment of Zen.
Chris Cuomo admitted to making a mistake but made sure to zing Stewart by saying he “traffics in snark and negativity….He’s funny, but he doesn’t do the job we do and he shouldn’t pretend he does.” People are aware that Stewart’s self-proclaimed “fake news” show is on Comedy Central and that Stewart doesn’t claim to be a “real journalist.” Perhaps Cuomo is just hot under the collar after watching his brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo, go through the wringer on Stewart’s show. The governor’s office is dubiously arguing that a commission appointed by the executive can’t investigate the executive (aka the governor). Stewart said: “You know that’s f&%$ing ridiculous, right?”
