Channing Tatum plays Olympic wrestling champ Mark Schultz in the film Foxcatcher. It’s a biographical drama based on the story of Schultz and how pathological multimillionaire, John Eleuthère du Pont (played by Steve Carell), killed Schultz’s brother, Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), also an Olympic wrestling champion. The title Foxcatcher refers to du Pont’s Philadelphia estate, Foxcatcher Farm, where the Schultzs trained and where Dave was shot dead in the driveway.
Foxcatcher is based on the autobiography Foxcatcher: The True Story of My Brother’s Murder, John du Pont’s Madness, and the Quest for Olympic Gold by Mark Schultz. Mr. Schultz told 2paragraphs that it is also based on “numerous conversations, emails, and articles I gave to the director Bennett Miller over a period of more than 8 years.” The film, which already won Best Director at the 2014 Festival de Cannes (Bennett Miller, Moneyball, Capote) will be released November 14, 2014.
