We ALL deserve the comfort of our own skin. We deserve acceptance of who we really are. We have the right to love and be loved, no matter what we wear, who we love or how much we know. We should feel free to be authentic in our walk, our talk, our self-expression. We are supposed to feel safe and comfortable, at all times, despite others’ beliefs. Being in touch with ourselves, spiritually, does not mean walking away from who we are at our core.
My children shake their heads when I head out to one of their events in jeans and a pair of Jordans. And, they actually laugh when I wear a pair of camouflage shorts with red, 6 inch, YSL heels. But, no matter if they are shaking their heads or laughing, I am certain that they love me for me. More important, is that I know I am setting a good example for them to be comfortable with being themselves.
