The white supremacist who taunted visitors paying respects to civil rights leader Rosa Parks (who was lying in state at the US Capitol Rotunda), Paul Craig Cobb, has bought a dozen plots of land in the small town of Leith, North Dakota (population 24). The Southern Poverty Law Center says Cobb wants to transform the town into a colony for white supremacists as he has sold plots (for one dollar each) to like-minded white nationalists including neo-Nazis Alex Linder and Tom Metzger. (Cobb paid about $8600 cash for a house and the 12 plots.)
American-born Cobb had moved to Tallinn, Estonia in 2005 (to establish an “International Office of White Diaspora”) but was issued a ten-year ban from the country and deported to Canada, where he was arrested in 2010 on federal charges of “willful promotion of hatred.” He fled Canada and returned to the US, where he discovered the town of Leith through an ad on Craigslist for the two-story clapboard house in which he currently resides. There is no comparable charge in the US for inciting hatred, so the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Cobb cannot be extradited.
