Rep. Lauren Boebert is taking the MAGA line on the news that Hunter Biden has been charged — after a five-year investigation led by a Donald Trump-appointed prosecutor — with criminal failure to pay taxes and a federal gun violation.
Biden will be reportedly be given probation instead of being incarcerated, which led Boebert to write, echoing MAGA leader Trump, that “if you think that this is justice being served, you’re sadly mistaken.”

Trump wrote: “Wow! The corrupt Biden DOJ [Department of Justice] just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere “traffic ticket.′” Hundreds of years wasn’t explained.
One of the two years that Biden failed to pay enough taxes was 2017, when the son of current U.S. President Joe Biden reportedly took in taxable income of $1.5 million. That same year Donald Trump reported paying $750 in federal income tax after declaring more than $15 million in taxable interest and capital gains and claiming losses of more than $17 million. Biden paid his overdue taxes in 2022.
The Biden gun charge occurred because he purchased a weapon it was illegal for him to possess due to his addiction status. Federal law prohibits firearm access by individuals who are “unlawful users of or addicted to a controlled substance.”
Boebert, an NRA advocate who rarely criticizes a U.S. citizen for gun possession, wrote: “Hunter Biden was able to quietly plead guilty to a FEDERAL GUN LAW VIOLATION and WILLFUL FAILURE TO PAY INCOME TAXES. There was no raid of his crackhouse. There was no jail time. No flashy indictments.”
