“We have to get back to that,” says Liberty University Senior Vice President of Communications & Public Engagement Ryan Helfenbein, talking about ways to “control the future” through education. The interview with Helfenbein was captured on video from the Faith & Freedom Coalition Conference this weekend where, among other things, Donald Trump told the Christian crowd that Jimmy Carter is innocence.
What does Helfenbein assert that conservatives need to “get back” to?
After claiming that the Left is currently “evangelizing” and indoctrinating the next generation through education, Helfenbein explains that conservatives need to take control of the education narrative and — shockingly — he names the role models conservatives should follow to take over education curricula: Mao, Stalin, and Hitler.
Helfenbein doesn’t obfuscate either, saying something vague like conservatives should follow the education lead of the “three biggest dictatorial mass murderers of the 20th century.” Instead, Helfenbein specifically names Mao, Stalin, and Hitler, praising them for their keen understanding of the importance of controlling education in their respective domains.
Kind of scary that senior university official believes Stalin, Hitler and Mao offer good examples for how US should structure education of America's kids.

Leads one to wonder how much Mr. Helfenbein understands about Stalin, Hitler and Mao. 🤔 https://t.co/RLRHpsbJXU
[NOTE: An exploration of the education efforts of Mao and Stalin can be found here.]
“What we’re discovering as parents and conservatives is education really is evangelism,” Helfenbeim says. “So, if you don’t control education, you cannot control the future. And Stalin knew that, Mao knew that, Hitler knew that. We have to get that back for conservative values.”
