Jaylen Brown has seen some performances in his time, but the All-Star Celtics forward took his hat off to his fellow All-Star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum after the latter went off in Game 7. Tatum put up 51 points on the parquet floor to send NBA MVP Joel Embiid and his battered 76ers home for the summer.
Brown took his hat off to his teammate, but his advice for everybody else was to put something on — that is, to put on some Tatum shoes. Brown said specifically: “Everybody should go buy the new JTs that he just dropped.”
Which of course leads one to Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee) and his famous suspicion that — when it came to the basketball superiority of the great Michael Jordan — Jordan had a trick: “It’s gotta be the shoes,” Mars said, over and over. (See below.)
Brown wasn’t exactly sure what made Tatum catch fire like he did, but the 51-piece was enough to lead Brown to suggest that, hey, Tatum’s MJ-like trick might be in the kicks.
Tatum’s JTs — those that Brown references — are, after all, part of the exclusive Jordan label. The Jordan Tatum 1 was released in April 2023, and is available in a variety of colorways. The shoe has been well-received by both fans and critics, with many praising its lightweight construction and responsive cushioning. Here are some of the key features of the Jordan Tatum 1, as emphasized by reviewers:
- Lightweight TPU frame
- Plate technology outsole
- Mesh knit upper
- Padded ankle collar
- Large-volume Zoom Air unit in the forefoot
There’s also the fact that wearing them, you might go for 50 in a big, big game.
