Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has found himself running into Tucker Carlson a lot at work. That is, when Raskin takes his seat in the House Chamber, MAGA adherents who align with Carlson and often parrot his talking points make up a significant portion of Raskin’s congressional colleagues.
Raskin has expressed fury at Fox-bred disinformation campaigns that have become policy starters in the GOP majority House. He has raged (see below) against the “Big Lie” about the 2020 election perpetrated by Carlson and MAGA minions like Marjorie Taylor-Greene — and against the similar attempt to change the narrative about the events of January 6, 2021.
Raskin has said that to believe the MAGA claims about January 6, “We have to disbelieve the evidence of our own eyes.”
Thank you @jamie_raskin. ( here he lays out the facts. Useful for those friends who unfortunately fell for the big lie) pic.twitter.com/RUg7RPDUuS

Upon hearing about Fox News parting ways with Carlson, Raskin offered two theories about why Carlson was fired. Raskin considered — one suspects sardonically, if hopefully — that now Fox, having seen seen the light about Carlson, was perhaps preparing to “recant Trump’s Big Lie, Carlson’s ‘Patriot Purge’ Jan. 6 false-flag disinformation & the toxic Great Replacement Theory?”
That a thing, Raskin’s tweet asserts, that might be happening at Rupert Murdoch‘s network — a complete reconsideration about the veracity of the content it presents.
But in his more resigned and realistic tone, Raskin offered a second less hopeful theory about Carlson’s firing: “Or was he just fired for saying he hated Trump?”
Now that Fox has fired Carlson, who blundered by speaking off-camera truth about lies Fox told on air, will Fox recant Trump’s Big Lie, Carlson’s “Patriot Purge” Jan. 6 false-flag disinformation & the toxic Great Replacement Theory? Or was he just fired for saying he hated Trump?
