On Season 13 of Shark Tank, two siblings from Austin, Texas — Chris Jane and Jennifer Jane — wear their finest clothes to pitch their business, Proper Good. It’s touted as a “convenient and healthy meal service that doesn’t require refrigeration, and it’s mailed directly to your door.” Just heat the meals (for about 90 seconds), and then eat.
The Janes have the good fortune of pitching in front of Mark Cuban who invested in the meal delivery service company Plated when they pitched their business on Shark Tank in 2014. The deal with Cuban didn’t go through but later the Plated founders (Harvard Business School alums) met with Kevin O’Leary, and got Mr. Wonderful to invest. In 2017, Plated sold to national grocery store chain Albertsons Companies for $300 million.
