Ana de Armas is the 31-year-old Cuban-Spanish actress who is riding a high wave in Hollywood. She was just nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe award for her role as nurse Marta Cabrera in the mystery film Knives Out with Daniel Craig who was nominated for Best Actor.
You’ll be seeing more of the dynamic duo this year as both star in the forthcoming (25!) James Bond movie, No Time to Die – in U.S. theaters on April 10. (De Armas plays CIA agent Paloma.)
De Armas is also soaring without Craig. She stars in the upcoming psychological/erotic thriller Deep Water based on the Patricia Highsmith novel of the same title (she also wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley, among others).
De Armas plays opposite Ben Affleck, who plays her husband. When the couple begins playing mind games against each other, people around them start to die. Deep Water will be released in the U.S. in November 2020.
Deep Water is directed by Adrian Lyne who took an 18-year absence from directing after his 2002 film Unfaithful starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane.
Lyne also directed Fatal Attraction, 9 1/2 Weeks, Indecent Proposal, and the 1997 adaptation of Lolita starring Jeremy Irons and Melanie Griffith.
P.S. De Armas will also star in the 2020 film Blonde, based on Joyce Carol Oates’ fictionalized chronicle of the inner life of Marilyn Monroe. Oscar winner Adrien Brody plays “The Playwright.”
