The world ranked No. 13 professional tennis player Belinda Bencic faces No. 21 Anett Kontaveit at the third round of the 2019 US Open on Saturday, August 31 at 9 pm in the famous Louis Armstrong Stadium. Bencic has good memories of the National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, New York — it’s where she got her first big break — at the 2014 US Open, where she became the youngest player (16) to make it to the quarterfinals since Martina Hingis in 1997. (Bencic had Hingis’s mother, Melanie Molitor, as a coach when she was 7.)
Prior to her arrival in New York City, the 22-year-old Swiss Bencic enjoyed some downtime in cute string bikinis in Monaco…
A beach on the French Riviera, Plage De La Mala, to be exact. She captioned the photo above: “An ocean breeze puts a mind at ease.”
After reaching No. 7 in 2015, Bencic suffered a number of injuries and fell outside the top 100. But things are looking good for Bencic in 2019. In January, she and fellow Swiss pro, No. 3 Roger Federer won the Hopman Cup in Australia.
