Super calm superstar Kawhi Leonard plainly stated the obvious when asked if the Raptors were looking to put the pressure on Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala — and see if the former NBA Finals MVP could respond big in the clutch. With little time left on the clock, the Raptors swarmed the Warriors, trying to double team the ball and create havoc for the Warriors offense. As with any scramble-and-double situation, the defense is left vulnerable if the offense fails to cough up the rock.
That’s what happened to the Raptors, when the Warriors found Iguodala with time on his hands and an open three which he smoothly knocked down, putting the game out of reach. Did the Raptors intentionally leave Iguodala open, thinking he wouldn’t rise to the challenge? No, Leonard explains, they didn’t want the ball in Iguodala’s hands. “We wanted it in our hands,” he said, “we wanted to get a steal.”
