Everybody with a microphone says there’s never been any basketball player like Zion Williamson, the #1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Duke University. The super-athletic and personable baller Williamson deserves the hype, but it’s not as if he’s utterly singular. People have reasonably compared him to the young Shaquille O’Neal, the great Larry Johnson and, of course, the undersized Hall of Fame forward Charles Barkley.
The Barkley comparisons just keep piling on. See this video below:

Barkley’s role as a talking head basketball analyst and resident comedian on TNT has apparently confused some people, who forget he was an all-world athlete and probably the most valuable player on the Dream Team. (Even with Michael Jordan, though Mike could have taken over if he’d wanted.) The commenters tend to say Williamson has far greater athletic ability, though Barkley hardly pales in comparison athletically, despite Williamson’s gifts.
For his part, Barkley says Williamson’s joining the Pelicans is “great for the NBA.”
