Comedian Jay Pharoah auditioned for the role of “New Shaq” during the NBA Awards on TNT. The old authentic gigantic Shaq was the host of the program, so his regular studio mates — Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Charles Barkley — sat down with Pharoah in the audience.

Pharoah had Barkley and Kenny in stitches with his Shaq impersonation, especially when he talks about how he became a dunker. “I took a volleyball and I dunked it, then I dunked a baseball, then I dunked my mama,” said New Shaq.
Barkley and Smith hired New Shaq to replace Old Shaq, saying he was “easier to understand” than the old Shaq. Barkley also liked the extra room at the table.
