In the Star episode “Lean on Me,” while Simone and Alex prepare to compete against newcomer Amber (Erika Tham) for their ASA performance, Noah’s father Bobby (Harold Perrineau) returns to help Noah with his sobriety and fatherhood. But that’s not the only family in town. For the funeral of her father Calvin (Ben Vereen), Carlotta (Queen Latifah) is visited by Miss Christine (Patti LaBelle!), Cousin Duke (Glenn MaGee), and Cousin Rashad, who’s portrayed by R&B singer MAJOR. On the show, MAJOR. and Queen Latifah sing the song “I’ll Give It All” which was written by Ron “NEFF-U” Feemster.

After graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Feemster is an alum too), Texas-born singer MAJOR (born Major R. Johnson Finley) moved to Los Angeles and started working with producer Harmony Samuels. The 35-year-old singer released his debut album, Even More, in September 2018.
