Jamal Crawford is known around the NBA as a great and grateful guy. He’s also known, as of two weeks ago, as the oldest player to ever score 50 points in an NBA basketball game — a rare feat for any player let alone one 39 years old. But it’s actually not so rare for Crawford, who is also the only player to score 50 or more points for four different NBA teams. Safe to say Crawford knows a special basketball player when he sees one (hey, he’s got a mirror at home) and so when he singles out former teammate Blake Griffin, it’s meaningful. And Crawford just went out of his way to praise BG, calling the 6’10” Detroit Pistons wingman “the truth” and “such a special player.”
–fact. BG is the truth, such a special player. https://t.co/CE1ygO78Z8

Griffin and Crawford were teammates on a talented Los Angeles Clippers team that couldn’t quite manage to peak in the playoffs, despite being a first-class squad. Crawford, now in Phoenix, saw up close what Griffin brought to the court every night and he knows the Pistons have a special player. The Pistons are down 3-0 against a heavily favored Milwaukee Bucks team and Griffin is playing through injury to try to help his overmatched team. Griffin’s coach Dwayne Casey says Griffin “has a presence that we can’t replace with anybody” and has “given us everything he has.” Crawford has seen it before. The Pistons will be looking to get the man more talent around him in the off-season.
