On the Married to Medicine episode “ATL in La La Land,” the ladies from Atlanta travel to Los Angeles to help launch its spin-off show, Married to Medicine Los Angeles. Many of the LA women are doctors including psychiatrist Dr. Imani Walker and anesthesiologist Britten Cole, but not all of them. Actress Asha Kamali-Blankinship is married to Dr. Larry Blankinship, a physiatrist whose patients suffer from pinched nerves in their neck or back. Asha Kamali‘s acting credits include the recurring role of Aunt Missy on Lee Daniels’ TV series on Fox, Star, starring Queen Latifah and Brandy Norwood. Missy is the overbearing aunt and manager of Gigi Nixon (Keke Palmer).

The former Miss Howard University is also a producer. She produced, wrote and starred in the 2012 series Milk + Honey, which starred Lance Gross (Marcus Jetter on Star) and actress/dancer Debbie Allen (Asha’s mentor). The show was executive produced by Idris Elba. Another fun fact: Asha is from Chicago and proudly went to the same high school as former First Lady Michelle Obama. Married to Medicine Los Angeles airs Sundays at 9 pm on Bravo, right after The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Check out Asha’s acting reel below: in the first scene, Asha’s character (who’s a struggling actress) yells at her acting coach, portrayed by Debbie Allen, who does not tolerate such behavior.
