On the Say Yes to the Dress episode “Not with Those Chubby Arms,” bride Angelica Boccella comes to Kleinfeld with her sister Victoria Boccella and mother Lisa Boccella, who is buying the dress. When looking for the perfect strapless gown, Angelica’s mother insists that Angelica needs sleeves because “you have chubby arms, and I don’t want your arms hanging out.” Kleinfeld bridal consultant Dianne tells Lisa, “don’t be so mean.” Lisa tries to explain: “I talk about Angelica being chubby because you’re going to be a bride, it’s the best day of your life,” and admits that she wants Angelica to be “a little thinner.” While trying on a strapless gown, Angelica warns her mother “If I hear you ask me about losing weight one more time, I’m going to fat shame you.” Her mother says “I was a skinny bride; I got fat because I had all three of you.”
“Momzilla” (Angelica’s word not ours) tells bride consultant Dianne that Angelica “was model thin and then she gained weight.” Lisa says Angelica was a size 2, which can be seen in the photos below and from the films Angelica has been in. She played Dina in the 2014 comedy horror film Jersey Shore Massacre, produced by Jersey Shore star Jenni “Jwoww” Farley. That same year, Angelica appeared on MTV’s reality show Dating Naked (see link below).
At the end of the appointment, Mom Lisa’s “negative filter” became an insurmountable problem and the Boccella women left without a dress, but with an invitation to come back and look again. New episodes of Say Yes to the Dress air Saturdays at 8 pm on TLC.
