NBA superstar James Harden defends himself no better than he defends his NBA opponents at times in the very funny new Allstate commercial (see video below) where he nearly burns down teammate Chris Paul‘s house. Harden forgets the one basic rule of modern leftover eating — never put metal in the microwave. (The TV character Frasier Crane once expressed this limitation succinctly, saying in frustration: “We can put a man on the moon but we can’t put metal in the microwave!”) But hungry James Harden fires up a Chinese food carton in Chris Paul’s microwave, and that little metal handle sparks up fast and the kitchen gets torched.
[That wall may as well have Harden’s name on it!]
The ubiquitous Allstate agent assures Paul that he shouldn’t worry about the smoke damage because he can help. But Harden quickly denies having caused the fire, asking Paul, “What did you do to your kitchen?” Paul looks incredulously at Harden saying, “What did you do to my kitchen?”
There’s a silhouette of Harden on the wall, painted by the smoke. It catches his profile, perfectly showing off Harden’s famous beard. Even with such obvious evidence available Harden says “I didn’t do nothing.” Then pointing to his profile on the wall Harden says, “that’s not me. He has a beard just like me — you know, the beard is pretty dope, you know honestly…”
