Former football player and professional wrestler turned Hollywood movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the creator and host of the new physical endurance TV competition, The Titan Games. Eight contenders (four men and four women) test their strength and fortitude as they compete to dethrone a reigning Titan. (The winner gets $100,000.) The two color commentators are Liam McHugh and Alex Mendez aka “Goldenboy.”

After Mendez, 31, gave up a high school football career due to injury he joined the competitive gaming scene and “pursued championships in Halo, Call of Duty, and even Asphalt 4 for the cell phone.” His first televised hosting gig as a “shoutcaster” was in 2011 at the MLG (Major League Gaming) National Championships for Black Ops 1. Mendez is also host of OMEN by HP and writes for the bible blog of gaming, Kotaku. The Titan Games airs Thursdays at 8 pm on NBC.
