The Masked Singer is the new celebrity game show on FOX. It’s a singing competition in which celebrity singers face off against each other while wearing elaborate costumes to hide their identities. One singer will be eliminated each week, ultimately revealing his or her identity. Former America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon, 38, is the emcee while former Playboy model Jenny McCarthy, 46, former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, 40, comedian/actor Ken Jeong, 49, and 4x Grammy Award nominee Robin Thicke, 41, are the panelists.
What’s interesting about The Masked Singer cast is that they’re all members of Generation X — people born between the years 1965 to 1980. Gen Xers are right between the baby boomers and the Millennials and are also known as the MTV Generation. The influential MTV channel made its debut in 1981 — reaching more than a quarter of teen TV viewers daily.

Jenny McCarthy, who’s married to New Kids on the Block boy band member (and Blue Bloods star) Donny Wahlberg, made her TV debut on MTV as co-host of MTV’s dating game show, Singled Out, which ran from 1995 to 1998 (see photo below). And in 2005, Nick Cannon made his TV host debut on MTV in 2005 on Wild ‘N Out, an improv comedy series which he created and produced. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 9 pm on FOX.
R3: Singled Out is SO the 90’s with the clothes, music, cast. Do you get more 90’s than Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra? #tvfightslive pic.twitter.com/l3do6IZ44N
