It’s down to the Top 10 on Season 15 of The Voice. Coach Adam Levine is counting on his two remaining artists, 22-year-old DeAndre Nico from Texas and 14-year-old Reagan Strange from Tennessee, to make it to the Top 8. For his Top 10 live performance, DeAndre is singing the Bruno Mars song “That’s What I Like” from his 24K Magic album. It’s considered a ballad about living a luxurious lifestyle (Cadillacs, champagne, lobster tails) and having sex (by the fire). [The Voice Voting App 2018, How To Vote Online, Apple Music, Xfinity]
Bruno Mars first sang the song live at the Grammy Awards in February 2017, and the performance was well received by the critics in the audience. Billy Nilles of E! News wrote, “every lady in the crowd looked as though they were putty in Bruno’s hand.” Rolling Stone‘s Elias Leight wrote that the “flirtatious” Mars “was in full-on seduction mode.” This isn’t a song choice where DeAndre Nico needs to just sing and hit those high falsetto notes. He’s going to have to turn voters at home into putty in his hands. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
