On The Real Housewives of New Jersey episode “Turkish Delights,” the ladies get the grand tour of new wife Jennifer Aydin’s palace in Paramus, New Jersey. While reading the next paragraph, keep in mind that Paramus is known as an American shopping mecca: it generates over $5 billion in annual retail sales, more than any other ZIP code in the United States.
When Jennifer shows them her formal fancy living room, she explains that when someone asks for her daughter’s hand in marriage, this is where it will happen. (Her daughter is 10.) Margaret Josephs compliments Jennifer on the chandeliers and asks where she got them. Jennifer says China. Yes, she traveled to China to get the chandeliers because when she went to Chinatown the lighting fixtures were “very expensive,” and “at the end of the day, I’m very practical.” Teresa Giudice gives Jennifer a high five and says, “If I had to do it all over again, I’d go to China, too.” The other new wife, Jackie Goldschneider, disagrees. “Going to China is not a practical way to furniture shop.” She calls Jennifer “the antithesis of practical.” The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Wednesdays at 9 pm on Bravo.
