Hammer & Nails is a hair and nail salon that caters to men. The interior features large leather chairs, individual giant screen TVs and customers are offered complimentary glasses of scotch. Hammer & Nails has been described as “man cave nirvana.” The founder of the masculine salon, former Hollywood screenwriter Michael Elliot of Los Angeles (Brown Sugar, Just Wright), pitched his spa business with franchise potential on Shark Tank in September 2014. Elliot went into the Tank seeking an investment of $200,000 in exchange for 20 percent equity but, alas, he did not get a deal.

After the Shark Tank episode aired, Elliot generated the $200,000 he was looking for from seven angel investors who watched the show. (Elliot still owns 40 percent of Hammer & Nails.) Four years after Shark Tank and there are now ten (10) Hammer & Nails salons across the country including five in California, and two in Texas. The next two Hammer & Nails salons will open in Atlanta and Williamsburg, Brooklyn in New York. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
