On the Bull episode “Jury Duty,” while putting together a defense for a woman who’s on trial for killing her daughter’s murderer, Dr. Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) is called for jury duty. And yes, the trial scientist, as he’s referred to by the D.A. who wants him on the jury, is a handful in the court room. When Bull tries to excuse himself from sitting on the jury, Judge Tessa Hudson tells him “trial scientists are not now nor have they ever been essential to the American criminal justice system – but jurors are.”
[Ruehl starred in The Fisher King with Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges]
Judge Hudson is portrayed by Mercedes Ruehl. The Academy Award-winning actress (The Fisher King, see link above) is known for her roles on Power (Connie Teresi), Frasier (Kate Costas), and in the films Last Action Hero (Irene), Lost in Yonkers (Bella), Married to the Mob with Michelle Pfeiffer (Connie), Big (Tom Hank’s mom Mrs. Baskin) and Heartburn (Eve), among many others. Bull airs Mondays at 10pm on CBS, right after Magnum P.I.
[NOTE: Watch Bull or any CBS show through Amazon Prime or CBS ALL-ACCESS. Both options offer free trials.]
