Beard Head is a company that makes novel knit beanie hats with detachable beards. The founder of Beard Head, David Stankunas, pitched his business on Shark Tank in December 2015. He went into the Tank seeking an investment of $250,000 in exchange for 25 percent equity but left empty-handed.
After Shark Tank, Stankunas said he was altering the overall business model of Beard Head. He was inspired by Robert Herjavec’s success with Tipsy Elves which relies on a purely direct sale strategy (vs. wholesale and direct sales). Beard Head, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary, has also launched a new line of knit hats for dogs! It’s called Zoo Snoods and they’re adorable. Who doesn’t want to see a dog wearing bunny ears or reindeer antlers?
