The Silicon Valley company Acton makes a brand of electric roller skates called Rocket Skates. You press down on the heel to activate the two DC motors and then skate up to 11 mph. You click your heels to stop. (Best heel-clicking trip since Dorothy got home that way). RocketSkates can go about 8 miles before they need to be charged, which takes about 90 minutes. The founder of Acton, Peter Tredway, pitched his business on Shark Tank in September 2015. He went into the Tank seeking an investment of $1 million in exchange for 3.5 percent equity. He didn’t get a deal.

Since Shark Tank, Acton has been busy launching its electric skateboards including the new BLINK S-R ($499, see link above) with improved braking and acceleration. And in 2018, Acton announced its ACE Eyewear – sunglasses with a built-in, hands-free camera so riders can take photos and videos while on their electric skateboards or roller skates and instantly stream them on social media.
Acton realizes not everyone can afford to shell out $499 for a skateboard so they offer 0% APR financing. You can pay for your order over 12 months at 0% APR or over 12, 24 or 36 months at competitive interest rates.
