Rent Like a Champion is an online business that lists apartments and houses available for rent near college campuses for big sporting events – football games is the company’s bread and butter. The business was founded by three Notre Dame students, Jordan Curnes, Drew Mitchell and Derrick Shenk. In October 2015, Mitchell and the company’s CEO Mike Doyle (another Notre Dame grad), pitched Rent Like a Champion on Shark Tank. They went into the Tank seeking an investment of $200,000 for 10 percent. They got exactly what they were asking for from Mark Cuban and guest Shark Chris Sacca.
Since Shark Tank, Rent Like a Champion has added PGA Tour, NASCAR, and Super Bowl event cities to its growing roster. Mike Doyle is still CEO and developing partnerships with big brands including Avis and Budget to provide Rent Like a Champion guests with discounted rental car service. The three co-founders mentioned above are no longer involved in the day-to-day business of Rent Like a Champion — although they’re still working in the Chicago area: Jordan Curnes is the co-founder of a medical device company, Mitchell works in real estate, and Shenk started a company to service Verizon retail stores.
Curious to hear more about what we’ve got going on this season? We caught up with RLAC CEO Mike Doyle to talk about Shark Tank, why he’s excited about 2018, and what we’ve got planned for the future… https://t.co/iJmprFucyq
