In Season 2 of Marlon, Marlon (Marlon Wayans) gets a visit from his two big sisters Lovie and Lenora. Their favorite thing about Marlon is his ex-wife Ashley. They consider Marlon and Ashley to be the Barack and Michelle of the family…without the arms and power. Marlon does his best to convince Ashley (Essence Atkins) to pretend they’re still married to keep his sisters from being disappointed. It’s just for two days, Marlon pleads. Plus, Marlon promises to tell his sisters they’re divorced when they go back to New York…but on the phone.
Marlon’s sister Lenora is portrayed by Sherri Shepherd. Marlon’s sister Lovie is portrayed by Kym Whitley. Whitley is known for her roles on Young & Hungry (Yolanda, see below), Curb Your Enthusiasm (Monia), The Bay (Big Candi), 2 Broke Girls (Shirley), Animal Practice (Juanita), ‘Til Death (Tina), That’s So Raven (Cousin Vicky), The Parkers (Gertie), My Wife and Kids (Wanda, with Damon Wayans!), and the legal comedy Sparks with Terrence Howard and Robin Givens (Darice Mayberry), among others. Marlon airs Thursdays at 9pm and 9:30pm on NBC.
