On the Season 1 finale of Young Sheldon, “Vanilla Ice Cream, Gentlemen Callers, and a Dinette Set,” Sheldon’s (Iain Armitage) grandmother Meemaw (Annie Potts) receives two gentlemen callers. When one of them, Professor Sturgis (Wallace Shawn), discovers that he has a romantic rival, he approaches the man, Ira Rosenbloom. At Rosenbloom’s furniture store, Professor Sturgis draws the proverbial line in the sand and warns Rosenbloom to cross it at his peril. (Hear this article on YouTube.)
Ira Rosenbloom on ‘Young Sheldon’ is portrayed by Richard Kind. He’s known for his on-camera roles on I’m Dying Up Here (Marty Dansak), Gotham (Aubrey James), Curb Your Enthusiasm (Cousin Andy), Scrubs (Mr. Korman), Spin City (Paul Lassiter), Mad About You (Dr. Mark Devanow), and as a skit character on Carol Burnett’s Carol & Company variety show in the early 1990s, among others. Kind also plays dramatic characters in the films Argo (Max Klein) and the Coen Brothers’ A Serious Man (Uncle Arthur). Or maybe you recognize Kind’s voice from Inside Out (Bing Bong) or A Bug’s Life (Molt). Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8:30pm on CBS, right after The Big Bang Theory, and right before Mom.
