For the season premiere of Showtime at the Apollo, five acts will perform on the legendary stage in Harlem. TV host Steve Harvey and co-host Adrienne Houghton will welcome cute kid rappers Mannish, Indian dancers Team Shraey Khanna, dangerous juggler Nike Pike, and two serious singers — Ericka Guitrone and George Lovett.
Lovett, an R&B singer originally from Baltimore now living in Savannah, cites Brandy, Tank, and Jazmine as his influences. So you can imagine what Lovett felt like when he got to met Brandy in person. Check out the video below. He sang “Have You Ever” for Brandy, live. After the serenade, Brandy told George, “You are amazing, and you have a beautiful voice.” She asked him if he believes in his voice because she says, “Your voice can heal people.” Brandy gives George audition advice and before walking away she warns him, “Don’t play around with that gift.” Showtime at the Apollo airs Thursdays at 9pm on FOX, right after Gotham.
