In the Teen Mom OG episode “Choose Your Path,” mother of three Maci Bookout prepares to leave her family to film a new reality show, Naked and Afraid, in Nicaragua. Meanwhile, Tyler struggles to work and take care of his daughter Nova while his wife Catelynn is in rehab. But the most heartbreaking scene features Amber’s ex Gary Shirley. He recently took a paternity test to find out if his mother’s ex-boyfriend Jody Patterson is his biological father or not. When the results comes in the mail, Gary brings the sealed envelope into the kitchen where his wife Kristina is waiting. Gary, wearing a ‘Dad Bod’ t-shirt, gives it to Kristina to open. She reads it and then passes it to Gary. “Well, Jody’s not going to like that,” says Gary. Kristina breaks down in tears. Gary tells her to “just throw it away.”
The silver lining in this story is that Gary continues to be a great father to his daughter Leah. And who knows, maybe he and Kristina will expand their family. They have considered adoption and fostering children. Teen Mom OG airs Mondays at 9pm on MTV.
