It’s difficult to stand out at the auditions of American Idol. And then there are nerves to contend with. 20-year-old singer Crystal Alicea from Winter Haven, Florida, says she tried to think about the judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan as “my best friends who I haven’t seen in a very long time.” It worked. It also worked having her boyfriend now fiance Simon with her as her good luck charm. Awww!

In January 2018, Crystal posted the photo below of her diamond engagement ring nestled in a dozen white roses (her favorite flowers!). So sweet. American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
