In the Madam Secretary episode ‘Women Transform the World,’ Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) works with Admiral Ellen Hill (Johanna Day) to advise the Afghan government that a compromise with the Taliban may be better than a war with them. It’s not an easy sell. Meanwhile, on a lighter note, Daisy (Patina Miller) returns from maternity leave and decides to finally tell Joe’s mother about the baby. Joe Garcia (Justin Baldoni), who turned out to be a CIA agent and was killed (cyanide poisoning), was the father of Daisy’s baby.

Joe’s mother Margarita Garcia is portrayed by Saundra Santiago. The New York native is known for her roles on One Life to Live (Carlotta Vega), Damages (Karen Gonzales), The Sopranos (Jean Cusamano), Guiding Light (Carmen Santos), and Miami Vice (Detective Gina Calabrese), among others. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 10:30pm on CBS, after NCIS: Los Angeles.
