Glow Recipe began as an online store that sells natural beauty products in the US, products that are first popular in Korea. In the cosmetics industry, the Korean skincare category is sometimes called K-beauty. The co-founders of Glow Recipe, Sarah Lee and Christine Chang – former employees of L’Oreal in Korea — pitched their K-beauty business on Shark Tank in December 2015. They were seeking an investment of $425,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. At the end of the segment, they agreed to a deal with Robert Herjavec — $425k for 25 percent.

In November 2017, Glow Recipe celebrated three years since the launch of its own product line at Sephora, the beauty retail giant. The Glow Recipe line at Sephora includes Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask and Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser (see Sephora link above). As Sarah says proudly, “We’ve helped bring K-beauty from hyperniche into the mainstream.” New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
