HBO is airing a two-hour special simply titled Spielberg. They’ve edited more than 30 hours of interviews with the Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg (Jaws, E.T., Close Encounters of a Third Kind, The Color Purple, Indiana Jones) himself, fellow directors (like Martin Scorsese), and Hollywood actors who have worked with him including Leonardo DiCaprio (Catch Me If You Can) and Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List), among others. The documentary promises that Spielberg will also reveal “largely unknown stories behind some of his most iconic films.”

At the opening, Spielberg posed on the red carpet with Meryl Streep who wore a purse embellished with a photo of President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama. Streep is starring in Spielberg’s next film The Post (in theaters December 22). Streep plays the former Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham. Spielberg premieres on HBO on Saturday, October 7 at 8pm.
