First Lady Melania Trump used some very familiar phrases to describe a 70-something person named Trump who will apparently say anything to sell product. But when Melania used this familiar criticism — calling Trump as “self-serving” and “attention-seeking” — she wasn’t talking about her husband, the president. Melania was talking about Donald Trump’s first wife Ivana Trump. The first Mrs. Trump is out on the talk show circuit where she’s pitching her book, Raising Trump, in the tried-and-true Trump style — saying things that will stir controversy. She told ABC: “I have the direct number to White House but I don’t really want to call him there because Melania is there and I don’t really want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I’m basically first Trump wife, OK? I’m first lady, OK?”

That’s what evidently drew Melania’s ire, even though Ivana was laughing as she said it. So to make sure America knows who the real first lady is, Melania fired back through a White House statement saying, “There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise.” That’s basically what Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz said about Donald Trump’s primary campaign before Trump sent them packing. Ivana will probably sell a lot of books. It’s already #1 at Amazon (see above).
