“My new music is more about the optimism of a survivor,” Shania Twain told fans on Facebook last spring. With the new Shania album entitled ShaniaNOW just dropped on the music world, Shania is guest judging on Dancing With The Stars “movie night” to continue that message of optimism and surviving. The multi-platinum musical artist (she’s sold over 100 million records) performs ‘Soldier’ — a poignant, heart-tugging song from ShaniaNOW on DWTS. The song will resonate with all American families with sons, daughters, husbands, wives, parents, brothers and sisters serving our country in the military. Shania says she wrote the song “over a matter of weeks.” When she was composing ‘Soldier’, she says, “I cried so much when I wrote this song. And every time I would go back to writing this song I would just cry and I would have to take breaks. I was very emotional. The fear of losing someone that you love so much…” and Shania just trails off there, letting that fear hang in the air.
‘Soldier’ is featured in the new movie Thank You For Your Service which comes out this week. The film explores the lives of a group of soldiers trying to re-enter civilian life after harrowing duty in Iraq — and the trials and emotions of the soldiers, their families and their communities.
