Country star Jake Owen was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shots from the madman 32 floors above started firing. And Owen’s reaction probably said it better than anyone else could have with the first six words of his first tweet: “Gun shots!!! Vegas. Pray to god.” That gut instinctual reaction describes the terror and the confusion as people at the festival found themselves suddenly hunted. “Pray to god,” says it best at times like that.
Gun shots!!! Vegas. Pray to god. Love you guys. Love you Pearl.

Owen tweeted afterwards a few times, still shocked by what he’d seen, which he described this way: “I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight.” Owen, unlike so many others, is safe. He thanked the Las Vegas Police Department.
Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others arent. Please pray.

Only weeks ago, Owen was asking for help with another tragic happening — a hurricane which almost looks gentle in the aftermath of the Las Vegas nightmare:
Please text SUNSHINE to 20222 for a one time $10 donation to help rebuild my home state of FL. All proceeds go DIRECTLY those affected. pic.twitter.com/aJHiXC9lEa
