The Simpsons episode “Treehouse of Horror XXVIII” is celebrating Halloween a week early. When Maggie becomes possessed by an ancient demon (she speaks her first words!), an Irish priest and doctor are called. The Irish priest is voiced by Ben Higgins of the Fox TV series The Exorcist. Dr. Kenneth Humphries is voiced by original The Exorcist director William Friedkin. Meanwhile, Homer cannibalizes himself.

After cutting his legs off with a saw, celebrity chef Mario Batali — also known as Molto Mario — arrives just in time to saute Homer’s head in a frying pan (see image above). Hmm. Wonder if he’ll add cucumbers (see video below). Batali, the star of ABC’s The Chew, has been on The Simpsons before. Batali voiced himself in the season 23 episode “The Food Wife” where along with fellow celebrity chefs Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay, Batali enters Marge’s dreams. That episode abounded in clever culinary word play as Tim Heidecker played “Amuse Bruce” — a play on amuse-bouche — and Eric Wareheim played “Fois Garth” — the animated version of the famous goose (or duck) liver paté. The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX.
