Mac n’ Cheetos are back on the menus at Burger King, but it’s still not enough — or is it too much? — to satisfy fried food cheese lovers. Because Burger King is bringing back another cheesy snack for King fans to get their fix with. Cheesy Tots are once again on the menus (for a limited time, of course) at select Burger King locations. That means the Cheesy Tots will be going head-to-head with the Mac n’ Cheetos — and there is a difference, not just in taste. A 5-piece of the Mac n’ Cheetos goes for about $2.49 generally. The Cheesy Tots are less expensive. (Maybe because Burger King needs to give some of the profits from Mac n’ Cheetos to Pepsi, which owns the Cheetos brand?)
Since Cheesy Tots are all BK, no brand partner — and maybe because of the ingredients too — the Cheesy Tots are a much friendlier choice for budget-conscious consumers like high school students, college kids, and families looking for an inexpensive meal. You can get eight of the Cheesy Tots for just $1.99. When you’ve got five bucks in your pocket, that’s a really big difference. Or as we heard a hungry young man in an Office Depot shirt say to his friend in line the other day, “The tots are a way, way better deal, dude. Way cheaper and you get eight.” And that Burger King didn’t even have them. The Cheesy Tots have been an off-and-on item at BK since 2009. “Crunchy outside, gooey cheese and warm potato inside, CHEESY TOTS™ are back!” says Burger King. Way, dude.
