One of the first acts to perform on the premiere of America’s Got Talent, Season 12 was a Donald Trump impersonator. He came with an authentic looking posse of secret service agents who waited backstage. When the impersonator first walked on stage, he received a lot of boos from the audience which he called “fake boos.” Judge Mel B hit her buzzer before the man said a word. But the fake Trump is given a chance by the other judges, with a warning from Howie Mandel: “They (the audience) might build a wall around you and make you pay for it.”

The impersonator’s voice is spot on in his speech which includes “I’m going to make America’s Got Talent great again” and “I know I’m going to win.” And then he unexpectedly announces that he’s on a mission of love and breaks into song and dance. He wins the crowd over with a cover of the Bruno Mars song “Uptown Funk.” AGT judge Heidi Klum says, “It’s the first time I really liked Donald.” Heidi gives him a yes, as do Howie and Simon. But Mel B sticks to her X. When the impersonator is told he’s going through regardless of Mel B’s X, Trump tells the audience, “Don’t mind her, she’s from Australia.” When Mel B tells him “I’m from England,” the impersonator, shrugs and says, “I’m not good with countries.” Simon Cowell announces, “Donald Trump wins for the second time.” America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
