Hunter Plake is a bit of an anomaly on The Voice. He’s not your standard pop, rock or country singer. He’s more of an alt indie singer who favors emotional, complicated songs like Fun’s “Carry On” and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.” Whatever Hunter’s doing is working. He’s made it to the Top 11 with Gwen Stefani and he’s broken The Voice record for having two Top 30 iTunes Songs.

When Hunter first performed on The Voice, before his Blind Audition, he said it was the first time he sang in front of a crowd that wasn’t his church. On the first couple of episodes, he wore what seemed to be a signature handkerchief around his neck. Now he’s rocking a grunge look (knitted cap, tattered layers with ripped jeans) that style icon Gwen Stefani might have had a hand in. See below. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
