Progressive firebrand Sen. Bernie Sanders is hoping his son has more luck than he has recently in backing a major candidate. After challenging Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, Sanders famously backed Clinton — though he couldn’t bring all the Bernie Bros around to his change of heart. Now Sen. Sanders’ son Levi Sanders is backing a candidate for major office — Levi is advocating for Phil Murphy to be the next NJ governor.
Levi Sanders spoke recently at Princeton University to rally support for Murphy. Murphy is a former Goldman Sachs banker and longtime Democratic player in NJ who has served as US ambassador to Germany. Speaking at Princeton, Levi Sanders said “Phil Murphy believes in a $15 minimum wage. He’s a gutsy guy! He voted for marijuana legalization,” according to the Princetonian. Levi works as a Social Security Senior Legal Analyst for Cambridge & Somerville Legal Services. He also moonlighted in a little gig he lists on his LinkedIn page as “Bernie Sanders For President 2016.”
