Industrial designer Melissa Rivera-Torres of Pleasant Hill, California is the inventor of Lightbox Terrier, a white acrylic lightbox that’s in the shape of a cute terrier dog (14”H x 25” L x 9.5” W). When kids trace stuff on the dog’s back his little heart lights up. He comes fully equipped with a cutting ruler, dry erase surface, and plenty of storage (look in his mouth!). Melissa will present her Lightbox Terrier on The Toy Box on April 21.
Through her Unleash Studio, Melissa (who earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from RISD) has designed several fun products for the home including an “L” Skateboard Shelf and “Cometa,” a dancing robot lamp. You can also wear her designs: check out her “Animal Series” of t-shirts, bags, hats and watches on Zazzle. The Toy Box airs Fridays at 8pm on ABC.
