Toymail has developed a voice chat app which is used with plush toys called Talkies. A child pushes a button on the back of their cute creature (a dino, bat or shark) and records a message and then sends it to either a parent, friend, or grandparent. The lucky receiver can see the 20-second maximum message on their smart phone or their own Talkie. Parents magazine calls Toymail Talkies “Genius.”

While Toymail Talkies are fun for kids to play with, they are also being used wisely by parents, especially parents who are divorced. On Amazon, one customer asked if his child’s Talkie can be configured to connect to multiple wifi sources automatically after the initial setup. “My wife and I divorced, and want to use them in both.” Toymail says they’re working on the ability to save favorite wifi networks so it is easy for a child to move from location to location with her Talkie. But the bigger point is that in amicable divorces, the Toymail Talkies can help foster consistent contact with both parents that the child might otherwise miss out on Toymail will be pitched on Shark Tank (February 17) which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
